Ahn Yeong-Kyun, Former Vice President of full-time Research Division, was re-elected as a Board of the International Federation of Accountants(IFAC)□ The Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants(President Young-Sik Kim) announced on the 16th that Yeong-Kyun Ahn, former Vice President of full-time Research Division, was re-elected as a board member at the International Federation of Accountants(IFAC) Council Meeting in Mumbai, India, on Nov. 15. Mr. Ahn has been appointed as a board member of IFAC for a three-year term in 2019 and has begun his second term this time. IFAC is an international organization representing 3 million accountants worldwide, with 180 professional accountancy organizations(PAOs) across 135 jurisdictions.□ Mr. Ahn is an accounting expert who has accumulated accounting audit experience for more than 30 years at PwC Korea and PwC Toronto Office. Since 2014, he has served as a full-time Vice President of the KICPA, overseeing research in the fields of accounting, auditing, and taxation, and served as a full-time Research Division Vice President and full-time Administration Vice President from June 2020 to June 2022. He served as a Board Member of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants(CAPA) for international activities, and successfully completed the 2015 CAPA Seoul Conference. Also from 2014, he has been appointed as a member of the International Accounting Education Standards Board(IAESB) under IFAC, the first international accounting education-related standards-setting body in Korea(a 5 year term).□ Currently, domestic personnel working on the international stage related to accounting and auditing include IFAC Director Ahn Young-kyun, International Accountant Standards Board for Accounts (IESBA), Kim Sung-nam (Hanyoung Accounting Corporation), and CAPA Director Jeon Yong-seok (Anjin Accounting Corporation).Domestic figures currently active in the international field related to accounting and auditing include IFAC Board Member Yeong-Kyun Ahn, International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants(IESBA) Sung-Nam Kim (EY Korea), and CAPA Board Member Yong-Sok Jhun (Deloitte Korea). etc.※ Photo : Yeong-Kyun Ahn, IFAC Board Member

  • (Discussion)Meeting with JICPA to exchange views on projects at IAASB On November 2, 2022, the KICPA met with the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants(JICPA) online to exchange their views on topics under discussion at International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB). Started with each President's opening speech, followed by presentations by Koichiro Kuramochi, chairman of the IAASB Working Group of JICPA, and Sachiko Kai, Board Member of IAASB, all participants discussed matters relating to assurance over sustainability reporting and audits of less complex entities. In order to be trusted, sustainability disclosure must be subject to high-quality, independent, external assurance. This vision addresses the importance of global standards, regulation that supports decision-useful disclosure, and the value of an interconnected approach to sustainability and financial information reporting and assurance.IFAC's State of Play is a comprehensive survey of the current landscape regarding sustainability disclosure and assurance. It covers the extent to which companies have obtained assurance, the standards of assurance they are using, and which companies are providing the assurance.   • (Jeju Group)The webinar "ISSB Exposure Draft IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures" The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA), the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA), and the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants (KICPA) hosted a webinar on the topic of "ISSB Exposure Draft IFRS S1 General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures". The Exposure Draft was published by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in March 2022, and the deadline for submitting comments on the Exposure Draft is July 29, 2022.The webinar was held on June 23, 2022 (17:00pm-18:30pm Seoul/Tokyo, 16:00pm-17:30pm Singapore, 9:00am-10:30am London) via ZOOM.Speakers were the Vice-Chair of the ISSB, Sue Lloyd, and the ISSB technical staff, Caroline Clark-Maxwell.   • (Jeju Group)The webinar "Exposure Draft Subsidiaries without Public Accountability: Disclosures" The webinar "Exposure Draft Subsidiaries without Public Accountability: Disclosures" was held on December 2, 2021.The webinar hosted by Jeju Group on December 2 successfully attracted about 100 participants from around the Asia-Oceania region.The IASB Board members, Ms. Ann Tarca, Ms. Rika Suzuki, and the IASB Technical staff, Ms. Michelle Sansom, Mr. Carlo Pereras, gave a presentation about the Exposure Draft Subsidiaries without Public Accountability: Disclosures.
